Located in the Whroo Historical Reserve in central Victoria, the Whroo Camp Area is located around a ten minute drive from the small town of Rushworth. The camp area provides a great launching pad for the walk to the Balaclava Open Cut Mine.
The Whroo camping ground is very easy to access. The camping ground is located 8km souh of Rushworth via Rushworth-Nagambie Road and Reedy Creek Road. The road into the camping ground is a narrow gravel road that can't really be accessed with a caravan. The campground is located 500m past the Balaclava Hill Information Centre.
The camping ground offers between 20 and 30 individual campsites. Each individual campsite offers the same great experience so there is really no "Best Spot". The ground can be hard at times.
In addition to the walk to the open cut mine, a number of other tracks exist throughout the Historic Reserve. Wildflowers, including wattles, provide spectacular displays during spring.
