Located on the Turon River in central New South Wales, Wallaby Rocks Crossing is located around a half hour drive from the tourist town of Bathurst. Wallaby Rocks Crossing offers fishing and swimming in the Turon River. We think the ten minute drive east of Sofala to Greens Point campground is a better option.
The Wallaby Rocks Crossing camping ground is very easy to find but a little difficult to access. The camping ground is located approximately 4.5km west of Sofala along Hill End road. The camping ground is just off the main road (around (200m) but is pretty rough so should only be accessed using a 4WD.
Although the camping ground offers over one hundred individual campsites, the area is very rocky so a caravan would probably be a better option than a tent. No grass exists.
The Turon River provides opportunity for some great swimming and fishing. The rocky terrain makes it difficult to play ball games.
Best Time To Go
Given that the campground is vulnerable to rising river levels, the dryer months would be the best time to visit this campground.
