Located in the mighty Kosciuszko National Park in south eastern New South Wales, Rocky Plain is located at an impressive elevation of 1400m. Rocky Plain is only one of a handful of campsites on our website that can experience snow, so take your thermals, even in the warmer months. Keep an eye out for some wildlife as an abundance has been known to be spotted.

Access

The Rocky Plain camping ground is reasonably easy to access. The camping ground is located 500m off the Snowy Mountains highway, with the turnoff north east around 300m south of the Rest House. The road in is quite a rocky road that should be accessed only in dry conditions.

Best Spot

The camping ground offers over fifty individual campsites. Ample grassed areas provides plenty of options but the best spot is probably to the right as you enter.

Activities

The Rocky Plain camping ground does not provide an abundance of activity options, however if you are interested in doing some alpine hiking, this is a great place to stop for the night on the way to your next destination..

Best Time To Go

Given the campground is located in an alpine area, it is recommended that the campground is visited during the dryer months. The road may be closed in icy conditions.
