Located on the banks of the Macalister River in south eastern Victoria, the Macalister River camping ground is located just a few minutes from the town of Glen Falloch. Macalister River offers all the benefits of a camping ground on the banks of a river, including swimming, fishing and canoeing.
The Macalister River camping ground is very easy to access. The camping ground is located 50m off the main road, just before you cross the bridge. The road into the camping ground is a gravel road but can easily be accessed by a two wheel drive and caravan.
The camping ground offers over one hundred individual campsites. All the campsites are very similar but the best spot is under the big tree, as it provides ample shade.
Given the location of the Macalister River campground, it offers numerous activities. Activities available for campers include fishing and swimming in the river. The area is also very popular for canoeists and trail bike riders.
Best Time To Go
Given the campground is located on the banks of the river, it is recommended that the campground is visited during the warmer months. The campground is not subject to flooding given its elevation in relation to the water level. For water activities, the best time to go is in early summer when the river is running the fastest.
