Located in the heart of central Victoria, the Dargile Picnic Area is located around an hour east of Bendigo near Heathcote. Whilst there isn't much to do at the camping group, its just a good solid place to get away from it all.
The Dargile Picnic Area is reasonably easy to access. Take the turn-off in the middle of Heathcote on Chauncey Street for 1.5km. Take Plantation Road turnoff for 1.5km then a 2.4km gravel road. Then turn left onto Plantation Track for 1km. The road into the camping ground is a gravel road but can easily be accessed by a two wheel drive and caravan.
The camping ground offers over 40 individual campsites. The ground is rock hard so find a place that you can get your tent pegs into.
The main activity available at the Dargile Reserve are bushwalks in Heathcote. There's really not much else to do in the area. The picnic shelter comes in handy.
