Located in the Chichester State Forest on the east coast of New South Wales, Coachwood is located around a twenty minute drive from the small town of Dungog. Coachwood provides a great location for campers to get away from it all, with a nice little river flowing through it, adding to the serenity of the camping ground.

Access

The Coachwood camping ground is reasonably easy to access. From Dungog, take the Stroud Hill Road east, before taking the Monkerai Road north after around 3km. After 1.5km turn left onto Main Creek Road. This road continues onto Skimmings Gap Road, then turn right after around 14km right onto Frying Pan Road. Follow this road for around 6km until the gravel road turn-off on your right. If you have reached the Frying Pan camping ground, you have gone around 100m too far. The road into the camping ground is a gravel road but can be accessed by a two wheel drive and caravan in dryer weather. 4WD only in wet conditions.

Best Spot

The camping ground offers around twenty to thirty individual campsites. Find a dry spot if you can, as rain can make the area a bit boggy in the wetter months.

Activities

The Coachwood campground offers limited fishing in the Telegherry River. There is also space for ball games, but generally a spot to visit just to kick the feet up and relax.

Best Time To Go

Given the campground can get a bit boggy in wetter conditions, it is recommended that the campground is visited during the warmer months.
