Located in the heart of the Mount Buangor State Park in central Victoria, Bailes is located on the southern side of Mount Buangor. Bailes offers all the benefits of a camping ground in a state park. The area is starting to regenerate after recent bushfires.
The Bailes camping ground is located approximately 5km down the Ferntree Gully Road, off the Western Highway. The track into the camping ground is quite good and can be accessed with a caravan. The track to the camping ground is quite well signed.
The campground offers around forty individual campsites with ample shade and sunny spots. All the campsites are very similar but the best spot is either next to the hut or inside the hut. The hut is quite large and can hold a number of people.
Given the location of the Bailes campground, it offers numerous activities. Activities available for campers include numerous hikes and mountain bike riding.The area is also very popular for 4WD enthusiasts.
Best Time To Go
There is no "best" time to visit Bailes. The area can however get very cold during winter so the warmer months are recommended.
